Quiet Storm Surf Shop Announces New Store
Opening at The Villages of Five Points
Lewes—April 7, 2005. One of the area’s favorite full service
surf shops, Quiet Storm, will be opening their newest store in the Town Center
of The Villages of Five Points at the corner of Savannah Road and Route One in
Lewes. Owners Dale and Kelly Loeser plan to open the shop, which will replicate
the larger downtown Rehoboth Beach store, in mid-May, just in time for the
summer season. A local’s favorite since 1995, the Villages of Five Points
location will carry an extensive selection of surf gear, clothing and footwear
for the entire family. A wide range of clothing lines, including Tommy Bahama,
eliza B, Free People, Life is Good will be featured alongside surfer mainstays
such as Quicksilver, Billabong, Roxy and Volcom. The store also promises to be
the best place to find much-loved Reef and Rainbow sandals and the hip spring
styles of Ugg.
Customer demand precipitated the opening of the new Quiet Storm location at the
Villages of Five Points. Over the years, the Loeser’s have had many regular
Lewes customers ask them to open another branch in Lewes due to the heavy summer
traffic in downtown Rehoboth. “When we found the space available in the downtown
district of the Villages of Five Points, we felt it offered both a very
convenient location and ample parking for the growing portion of our customer
base in this area,” said Mrs. Loeser.
Dale and Kelly Loeser came to the Rehoboth Beach area after college to live the
coveted beach lifestyle while making a living outside of the competitive
corporate world. Combining Dale’s passion for surfing with Kelly’s retail
management experience, the Quiet Storm Surf Shop brand was born. The business
allows the couple the flexibility required to raise their two children, daughter
Tierney and son Luke. “We are very excited about this new location of Quiet
Storm at the Villages of Five Points and are looking forward to our grand
opening in May,” said Dale. This Quiet Storm Surf Shop will be managed by Karen
Collins, a long time employee. For additional information please call
302-227-2747.
The Villages of Five Points Town Center now features a diverse mix of
businesses, including Fish On!, Bad Hair Day? salon, Java Beach Bagel Company,
and Seaside Interiors as well as the new Quiet Storm shop. For more information
on retail opportunities at this location, please contact Robin Davis at

Seaside Interiors to open at the Villages
of Five Points Town Center
Upscale design center will make a splash with coastal décor and much more
As the Town Center at the Villages of Five Points in Lewes
continues to develop into a thriving downtown district over the next few months,
Steve Travers of Seaside Interiors is thrilled to be opening his second store
location there this fall. The original Seaside Interiors business in Ocean City
opened three years ago and has quickly become a mainstay in that community for
fashionable interior design. Travers and his wife Gwen had been looking for over
two years for the perfect location in which to open a second shop when they
heard about the Villages of Five Points’ downtown district. “We think the Town
Center at Five Points will provide the ideal atmosphere to showcase Seaside
Interiors’ custom design philosophy and full service capabilities,” said
Travers. “With Fish On, Bad Hair Day, and more shops on the way, this downtown
district is going to be a terrific shopping and restaurant destination in the
area.”
For Steve Travers, owning and operating Seaside Interiors
has truly been a labor of love. Following his father’s untimely death in 1968
while in the process of opening his own textiles shop, a dream he never
fulfilled, Steve always knew he would see that dream through some how, some day.
In 2001 he did just that when along with wife Gwen they opened their Ocean City
store with a mission to provide stylish interior décor for any budget or project
size. In fact, Seaside Interiors also carries retail items ranging from a $5.00
embroidered linen guest towel to a $3,000 elaborate imported armoire. The new
location in Lewes will also offer free in-home design, imported one-of-a-kind
furniture and decor, special orders, and extensive window treatments. In
addition, when the 3,600-square foot space at Five Points opens this fall,
Seaside Interiors plans to host home-improvement seminars on trendy decorating
and design ideas as well as house the works of local artists.
Seaside Interiors’ plans to involve the local community
through interior design seminars and specialized guest speakers at their new
store should blend perfectly with their surroundings at the Town Center of Five
Points. The new downtown district features an architectural design reminiscent
of old town charm complete with apartments above the businesses, plenty of
parking, and beautiful landscaping. “One of the reasons we chose the Town Center
at Five Points for our new location was the quality of the neighboring
businesses,” Steve Travers explained. “We’re excited to work with the other
business owners in the Town Center to retain and build upon the hometown charm
of this area for years to come.”

The Little Salon With a Big Heart
Bad Hair Day Salon Works to Make a Difference in the Community
Nikki Bucci sat perfectly still, gripping the hands of her
daughter, as the last piece of hair fell from her head. She took the small
mirror off the nearby table and gazing into it, saw the beautiful, strong face
of a survivor. Bucci, 58 years old, recently had surgery to remove a cancerous
breast tumor and will shortly be starting a 22-week chemotherapy/radiation
course at Muhlenburg Hospital in Bethlehem, PA. Well aware of the side effects
caused by chemotherapy, she had decided to take back control of the situation.
Instead of waiting for her hair to thin or fall out, she had her head shaved at
Bad Hair Day Salon in Rehoboth Beach, DE, on June 15, 2004. Her daughter,
Giancarla Churchman, a graphic designer in Rehoboth Beach, also had her head
shaved at the salon that day to show support for her mother. Lewis Drexel
Davison, owner of the salon, had organized and supervised an entire regimen of
beauty treatments for the duo that day, from pedicures and manicures to facials
and massages. Finally, he personally shaved the women’s heads for them,
providing much appreciated comic relief and support throughout the process.
This type of thoughtful service and care continues a little known, six-year
tradition at Bad Hair Day Salon of providing assistance, beauty treatments, and
love to people challenged by cancer.
Drexel Davison opened Bad Hair Day in 1994 and it has
quickly grown to become one of the most successful salons in Delaware.
Recruiting 24 top stylists and aestheticians, Davison now maintains a hip,
stylish, and high energy atmosphere which has fueled the salon’s continuing
success. About six years ago, Davison’s mother approached her son with the idea
of using some of the salon’s resources to help people diagnosed with cancer.
Davison immediately took the idea to his staff who wholeheartedly agreed and the
team signed up with Beebe Hospital’s Look Good – Feel Better cancer
program. After learning the basics about the illness, Davison started Miracle
Mondays at the salon, and for three years on the first Monday of the month,
provided beauty treatments specifically for people dealing with the different
stages of cancer. After three years, Miracle Mondays had become such a huge
success that Davison rented the community room at a local development and
weekly, participants in the Mondays met to provide additional support to each
other throughout their ordeals. Davison has now taken the internal momentum
behind Miracle Mondays and put it behind supporting Locks of Love, a non-profit
organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children.
Currently, in addition to running the highly successful
salon in Rehoboth Beach and working with Locks of Love as well as with people
dealing with cancer, Davison is opening a second location in September in the
Villages of Five Points downtown district. The Villages of Five Points, located
at the corner of Savannah Road and Route One in Lewes, is the first community in
this area to offer a true downtown living experience where residents can easily
walk to shops and restaurants. Davison’s new salon will be an excellent
addition to the neighborhood and will reflect the stylish downtown district with
an industrial loft décor. Three other new locations are also planned in
Washington D.C. area over the next two years. “We try to live by our mission,”
says Davison, “To care for the world we live in, transforming ourselves and
others through beauty internally as well as externally.” If the smiling faces
and positive attitudes exuded by Nikki Bucci and Giancarla Churchman as they
left Bad Hair Day Salon are any indication, Davison’s mission is well on its way
to being accomplished.

The Villages of Five Points Plans for Opening of Downtown Retail Shops
The Villages of Five Points, located at the intersection of Route One and
Savannah Road in Lewes, will unveil a portion of its much-anticipated downtown
district this spring. With distinctive neighborhoods including condominiums,
townhouses, and single family homes, The Villages of Five Points is the first
community in this area to offer a true downtown living experience for residents,
with restaurants, retail shops, banking, and groceries all within walking
distance. This town center will also be open to the public and should prove to
be an exceptional gathering place for residents and visitors alike.
Currently, County Bank and Food Lion anchor the Savannah Road entrance to The
Villages of Five Points. Cape Pharmacy, Vacation Video, Quest Video, Savannah
Café (opening soon) and China Garden are also located in the plaza, providing
residents with both shopping ease and convenience. In mid-May, Fish On!, a new
restaurant by owners Matthew Haley, Bryony Zeigler and Harry Geller, will open
its doors to both residents and the public alike in the community’s downtown
district. Fish On! will offer a spacious and modern dining experience with an
open kitchen and large outdoor patio. In addition, The Villages of Five Points’
management team is continuing to review applications for business tenants and
current plans include room for a coffee shop, hair salon, professional offices
and others in the town center by the end of summer 2004.

Villages of Five Points will provide hometown living complete with these
downtown conveniences. The neighborhoods of the North, West, and East Villages
surround the towns’ center and shopping district. The North Village features
five three-story condominium buildings which overlook a picturesque pond and
fountain. The West Village will consist of upscale single-family homes and
townhouses currently under construction by Gemcraft Homes. The East Village
offers single-family custom home lots within a neighborhood filled with winding
streets accented by pockets of open space and beautiful landscaping. These
condominiums, townhouses, and single-family homes are also encircled by
recreational fields, gardens, and bike trails.
“Since we first started the design of Five Points, our goal has been to
create a community where residents can easily walk to shops, restaurants, and
local businesses as well as enjoy the grounds and amenities year-round,” said
Robin Davis, Project Coordinator at Hudson Management Group. “We believe that
our downtown retail center will serve as the heart of Five Points and provide a
true sense of community for all our residents.”
